A River Runs Through It

A River Runs Through It and Other Stories - Norman Maclean

In this article, I’d like to talk about one of my most favorite books of all times i.e. A River Runs Through it and Other Stories. This is a book written by Norman Maclean and its Foreward by Annie Proulx.

One thing I like about Norman’s style of writing is that he’s quite detailed yet interesting to read from. Like he talks about the fact that he’s haunted by waters which is a pretty common feeling among anglers out there whenever hunting for fish.

Norman is a retired English professor who has been writing works of fiction for a long time. He’s currently aged 70 and has earned the reputation of producing one of America’s most treasured, classic stories. In fact, a movie has already been done based on this very same book.

Come on – why don’t we have such good writers these days? Are we losing our writing vibe? We need to keep the fire started by the like of Norman Maclean and others burning and we can’t do that by watching TV all day long. We’ve got to get up and start getting things done.

To this end, the “A River Runs Through It and Other Stories” book keeps attracting top ratings even on platforms like Goodreads. Last I checked, it had amassed an amazing 4.3 star ratings from over 20,000 reviewers.

Knowing just how difficult it is to get a review out there, let alone a positive one, I would like to say that this is a good book. If you’re a blogger, this is certainly something you want to check out to keep your hair health, eyebrows, and all raised! Oh, good hairy jimbo. If you’re an angler who likes to spend most of their time out there hunting for fish in different seasons of the year, this is certainly something you want to get as part of your fishing gear.

The Longest Silence: A Life In Fishing - Thomas McGuane

Hi, My name is Ericko and this is my very first time posting on Booklikes. I really like it being here and I am happy that I am welcome. This is all thanks to the great design work done by the digital team behind this website.

I love reading quite a lot. And in particular, I enjoy reading sci-fi novels. I used to enjoy reading romantic novels although I think life has really changed me and I'm no longer interested in that kind of stuff.

I am currently reading "The Longest Silence" which is rated one of the best books about fishing. The reason I am interested in this book is that I also blog about fishing and related topics.

As you can imagine, I like to listen in to different kinds of experiences shared by different kinds of anglers from across the world. That way, I can also become more confident in what I do.

In particular, things can get very lonely when you're out there fishing. With no one to turn to, you might feel like giving up especially after casting all day long with seemingly no success.

So, it's always important to find a book that not only motivates you but also educates you. And that way, you can wake up the next morning feeling recharged and ready to face the day.

Without such motivation, it's possible to give up. Yet in this world, you don't want to be a quitter. Your best bet is to keep going strong and trying everything possible to keep winning. Focusing more on the benefits of it and less on the failures and frustrations of it.

And before you know it, you've landed a bass or two which you can take home with you and make a nice meal for your family. Or better yet, take photos of and post on Instagram for the love of social media.

That's it for today folks. Till next time, I am yours truly, Ericko.
